FLIGHTROUTEAPI · BUILD WITH OBSERVATIONS

Understand the observations behind the API.

A useful aircraft API makes missing data and uncertainty visible alongside every result.

Coverage is observation based

Subscriptions follow aircraft registrations worldwide, wherever observations are available. This does not imply complete global coverage, continuous ground coverage or satellite reception. A regional demo is a sample, not a worldwide aircraft count.

Delivery time is not observation time

generated_at describes delivery of a snapshot. observed_at describes the aircraft observation. checked_at and fetched_at describe collector activity. A successful API response or connected WebSocket does not establish that every aircraft has a fresh position.

Flight events are estimates

Takeoff and landing times are derived from changes between ground and airborne observations. Results expose the time interval, airport match and completion uncertainty. Gaps may split a flight into segments. These results are not airline-confirmed movements.

Schedules have partial coverage

Upcoming operations depend on what is published for a registration. Aircraft assignments may change. No visible flight does not establish that no flight is planned. Integration previews should be evaluated using their actual status and last successful fetch.

GNSS accuracy is an indicator

Daily cells describe observed navigation accuracy. Equipment problems and coverage affect the result. These maps cannot independently confirm deliberate interference or distinguish all jamming and spoofing events.

Data provenance and licensing

Provider provenance and applicable attribution are retained in the service’s data and licence notices. FlightRouteAPI branding does not transfer ownership of upstream data or remove third-party licence conditions.
